The day started with the mounted "gaucho" reception at the entrance of the town, and then led and escorted the bus to the main square where the local authorities were waiting to sing the National Anthems or Argentina and South Africa. The the Wits choir also sang a couple of songs that were a preview of the evening show that were transmited live by the local radio station. After that they went to the Electrical Cooperative for on tour and to learn how the Las Perdices Cooperative works.
After this, the group was divided in two. One half went to the Domingo Sarmiento School and the other one to the Humberto Gay School. There, they were honored with performances from the school children and later they retributed with some South African Songs. In the afternoon the groups changed schools, so all had the opportunity to visit both schools.
Once the first visit to the schools ended the choir met together for lunch, there together with the authorities of the Electrical Cooperative they enjoyed some home-made pasta, got to know each other and tried some Argentine "ponchos" on.
After the second visit to the schools, the group was together again to enjoy the tea break. During the break, tea and pastries were served. They were priveleged to have some tango and folkore dancers that made a great show for the members of the choir of the Witwatersrand University. The Electrical Cooperative awarded to each one of the members of the choir with a "faja" (gaucho belt) and with a "poncho" to Dalene, the conductor.
When the performance time was due, the choir went for rehersal and a warm up practice session. The show was great and there were no seats left. The people from Las Perdices enjoyed the color and voices from South Africa, but above all the time spent together.
Finally, the dinner with the community and the party after it. The "vaquillona rellena" was delicious and everyone had a great time learning to dance the Cordoba "cuarteto".
The visit to Las Perdices was great, exciting and unfortunately, over.
