The arrival to the city of Villa María was in the early afternoon on Sunday the 24th of August. Before going to the Hotel Presidente we made a stop at the Cathedral for a preview. Then we went to the hotel where we stayed for six nights, this being the Wits Choir headquarters for a week. Once there and, it was time for the room distribution. Of course, every night some changes were made. |
Around seven in the afternoon, everyone met in the hotel´s foyer and walked together to the Cathedral of Villa María to prepare for the show. As usual, the practice and warm up came first, and then the concert. In this opportunity Rector Carlos Dominguez from the National University of Villa María and Dean Juan Carlos Peretti from the National Technological University of Villa María were our hosts. The performance was good and everyone in the audience appreciated it.
Following the "critique" of the show with Dalene it was time to go back to the hotel. On the way back the games in the square were irresistable for some of the "kids" that made a play stop before continuing the walk to the hotel.
During the next days the hotel in Villa María was the headquarters of the Wits choir. On Monday the Wits choir gave a very special performance to the Sobral School´s Students; and they also enjoyed the folklorical exhibition of the local students. They also had a reception with the school authorities.
Tuesday was the day in which the choir visited Las Perdices, and on Wednesday morning, they visited the Mariano Moreno School where they had a great time singing and dancing with students and teachers... especially when it was time for the "Chu Chua" Song!
In the afternoon, they traveled to Arroyo Cabral to perform. Thursday was Tancacha´s turn. Friday morning was time for visiting the República de Bolivia School; then, Hernando, Río Tercero (overnight there), Oncativo, and back to Villa María for a last night there.
On Sunday morning, before departuring to Villa del Rosario, the choir of the Witwatersrand University made a short stop in the Campus of the National University of Villa María. Rector Dominguez opened the facilities and the music department for the South African visitors. Dalene went straight to the piano and gave to all present a mini concert. Finally, the Wits choir thanked the Rector with a couple of songs, and then left towards their next performances in Villa Del Rosario.
