The Barberhop Choir arrived in Oliva just on time to get the lugagge out
of the bus and meet the new host families. At the reception, Mabel
Lenuzza, the Secretary of Culture, welcomed the group and thanked them
for visiting Oliva.
After the formal introductions were made, each student was distributed
to a host family and they all went home to rest and get ready for an
exciting following day.
When the new day started, the activity for the Barbershop Boys was
visiting the different high schools of the city and interact with the
local students. Then, they went for a live interview at the TV station
and after that went back to the host families for lunch.
In the afternoon, once again they visited a high school where all the
students, from other schools as well, were invited to a preview of the
choir's show. There, the boys experienced the warmth and admiration of
the Argentine girls and some of them had to be rescued from the crowd.
That night the concert was held at the Cinema Theatre of Oliva which was
filled to capacity. The local children's choir performed first and then
the South African choir made the presentation. Once again, all the
members of the audience were captivated and touched by their
performance. After the show, the Secretary of Culture of the
Municipality of Oliva invited the group to dinner at a local pub where
they also danced and had a good last night there with the hosts.
The farewell the following morning was hard for everyone, and they all
agreed that the next visit to Oliva should be longer.
