Message from the headmaster

With just days to go before the end of our Trinity Term and the last examinations being negotiated, thoughts in the music fraternity are turning to Argentina. If truth be told, the two members of staff and fourteen young men can hardly wait!

Music at St Alban's has grown by leaps and bounds over the past few years and this tour will be the First International Performanoe Tour undertaken by our Music Department. We look forward to sharing this wonderful musical expenence with you and hope that the future will hold many more such exchanges between our two countries.

Ties between St Alban's and Argentina have been strong for over a decade now - ever since the period when Ambassador Hugo Porto had his son at our school. Several student exchanges have been completed and, since the Chase Foundation became heavily involved in 2003. the number of such exchanges has multiplied. In 1996, our Rugby Club toured Argentina and Chile and visited many of the cities and schools that our Barbershop Boys will encounter on this tour. l was the Coach of our 1 st XV on that 1996 tour and l still have vivid and warm memories of the ho spitality and generosity of our hosts I am certain that those wonderful traits of the Argentinian people remain as strong today.

To all those who have worked so hard to make this tour possible, from our Tour Committee here in South Africa. to the Chase Foundation. and to our hosts in Argentina, l express our sincere thanks and appreciation. To Mark and Elma and the rest of the touring party enjoy the people, the places, the music and the new relationships that will define the next month of your lives. You will truly return with memories for a lifetime. Good luck to you all!
