Following the walk around the City of Arrecifes, cast and crew of 'My
African Dream' visited the Arrecifes 'Casa de la Cultura' (Cultural
Museum of Arrecifes). In this museum, the students had the opportunity
to learn about the history of Arrecifes, and visited exhibits in
Paleantological finds from the region, Arts and Crafts, 'El Viejo
Almacen' (the Old Grocery Store) - famous for not only obtaining your
groceries but also for an evenings Tango - exhibitions of vintage motor
vehicles, traditional clothing, folklore and other historical events.
The Casa de la Cultura Arrecifes then invited us all to have a
traditional Argentine lunch of empanadas (Gaucho Meat Pies) sodas, and
plenty of 'Dulce de Leche' spread amongst delicious traditional pastries
for Dessert. We have evidence that Tjaardt was a fond favourite of the
pastries!
A stray dog became our 'groupie' and followed the entourage for the
entire day on the city tour and visit to the Casa de la Cultura, so we
have included him as our 'Honorary My African Dream Mascot from
Arrecifes'
