The first performance in Argentina of the 'My African Dream' Deaf Choir
from Trans Oranje School for the Deaf of Pretoria West, South Africa,
was set for the Casa de La Cultura in Pergamino City, Province of Buenos
Aires, Argentina.
Andre van Dyk (Sound and Lighting Engineer) had spent just about all day
with his preparations, setting up the lights in the right places,
checking sound systems, coordinating the DVD Screen, dangling from props
and just getting his side of the production in order. It was amazing to
watch Andre communicating with the Spanish speaking sound engineer after
only two days in Argentina! Many hilarious moments were shared.
A very nervous but excited group of young cast members arrived at the
venue with mixed feelings; - How would they be received...? What were
Argentine audiences like? Will they like our Show? Is my costume ok?
Boy, but there are lots of people in the audience!!!!! Wow!!!!!
TransOranje's 'My African Dream' first performance in Argentina was
absolutely spectacular!. Lois Du Plessis and Rian Swanepoel's voices
captured the spectators and on more than one occasion were invited to
perform with the cast on stage. The audience cried, laughed, applauded
with enthusiasm, demanding an encore, (another encore with the
participation of the Pergamino Deaf Choir), and really showed their
appreciation with standing ovations for the magnificent show that they
had had the opportunity to witness. TransOranje's QMy African Dream'
cast felt more confident toward the challenges that lay ahead.
