After an early start, packing up the coach which was to transport us to
Villa Maria, province of Cordoba, Argentina, the 'My African Dream' Crew
and Cast from TransOranje School for the Deaf of Pretoria West, South
Africa, were happy to take a brief nap en route to this city.
On arrival, we first went to the Rivadavia School where the learners
were waiting for a special presentation on their outdoor stage. It was
amazing to see that when we first arrived, there were about 600 school
children waiting patiently in their seats for the show to begin. By the
time the 'My African Dream' presentation started, more than 1200
children, teachers, and onlookers were present, hanging from trees,
leaning over railings, and accumulated around the stage area.
Rian Swanepoel and Lois Du Plessis, true to tradition, invited the
participation of the audience in the last song and the stage was filled
with enthusiastic hand signers and dancers who followed the leads
provided by both performers and Ancri seated in the audience.
The impact on the young audience was astounding, and encores were called
for. The performers and cast were mobbed on their way out of the
school's installations to where a brief buffet snack was offered by the
School Administration.
Following this show, all members were transported to the Hotel
Presidente in Villa Maria downtown area where the rest of the day was
spent shopping, visiting local sites of interest, and relaxing.
