| Art Professors from USA Visit Argentina |
The plastic artists Carmela Aliffi, Steve Jarvis and Susan Krause also had a very tight schedule during the Oncativo leg of the tour. They visited the community of General Deheza and offered several workshops for primary and high school students in Oncativo.
On her second visit to Argentina, Carmela started her activities visiting the community of General Deheza with Susan Chase from TCEF. There she gave a workshop to local students. While Carmela was giving her class, Susan and Steve arrived straight from the International Airport of Córdoba (one day later than planned).
During the next two days, they offered four workshops to almost one hundred students from different schools of Oncativo with the organizational support of of Dora Rodriguez from the Oncativo Municipality.
This classes were divided in two parts. In the first one, each one of the visiting artists explained to the students about their work and showed some of it to the children. On the second half they invited the participants to demonstrate their artistic skills.
Carmela Aliffi is a painter and draws with color pencils; her theme being life & death and brought with her some of her most recent productions. Susan Krause is a scultor and specializes in Instalations and makes mould models out of different parts of peoples bodies; she looks for what is unique and beautiful in everyone.
Finally, Steve Jarvis is also a sculptor and makes systems for life, subsisting and communications; he brought a communications system to broadcast messages from Argentina to people visiting his next exhibition.
During the second part of the workshop they invited the students to draw and to learn how to make perspective drawings, ie., to be able to and interpret images tridimensionaly. Everyone had great fun and is looking now for the eye level line and the two points in their day-to-day surroundings.
